School Talks
We have been giving school talks since 2004 free of charge to our local schools, kindergartens and preschools educating children about owning a pet, caring for pets and how to safely interact with pets.

Pet Care and Safety Talks for Schools
Safety is essential for children of all ages, especially as pet ownership continues to rise—with over 53,000 registered dogs in the Sutherland Shire alone. Could your students benefit from a free safety talk about pets?
Dog attacks can have serious consequences, and in late 2022 alone, over 100 children were injured by dogs. Our talks aim to help students avoid becoming part of these statistics by teaching them how to safely interact with dogs and other animals.
We’ll work with you to educate students on recognizing the difference between a friendly dog and one that is scared or angry. Through practical tips, like avoiding unknown dogs, not running away, and respecting dogs’ space when they’re eating or sleeping, we empower children with the knowledge to stay safe. We also cover the importance of respecting all animals, including wildlife, to foster kindness and understanding.
To make the learning experience hands-on, we bring live animals for students to safely interact with, including a dog, a cat, a rabbit, and a turtle. These interactions help kids apply their new skills while developing responsibility, empathy, and proper behaviour towards animals.
Our 45-minute presentation is completely free of charge and includes two staff members with Working With Children Check who will attend with the animals. Parents and friends are welcome to join, and photos or videos of the session can also be arranged.
