Junior Vet for a Day – Companion Animals
Step into the shoes of a vet or vet nurse at Menai Animal Hospital!
Join us for an exciting, hands-on experience where you’ll work alongside one of our senior vet nurses and take part in daily tasks such as:
- Exploring behind the scenes with a hospital tour
- Feeding and caring for patients
- Using veterinary equipment like microscopes and endoscopes
- Taking vitals, including heart rate, temperature, and respiratory rate
You’ll also:
- Handle animals of all kinds
- Clip nails and learn grooming techniques for dogs and cats
- Check eyes and ears for health issues
- Study parasites like worms, ticks, and fleas
- Learn about animal safety and handling
- Conduct pathology tests and check microchips
- Examine X-rays and guess the problem
- Explore different breeds of dogs and cats
And so much more! It’s a fun and educational day filled with exciting activities for animal lovers of all ages.
The experience will run from 11am – 3pm
Cost is $110.00 per child
The days will be limited to small groups of 12. Please bring lunch and a drink

Vet / vet nurse for a day conditions:
- Payment is essential to secure your booking.
- Enclosed shoes must be worn.
- All participants must agree to follow all instructions given by the nurse at all times.
- Touching of any animal(s) may be permitted after instructions from the nurse and under the nurse’s supervision.
- Menai Animal Hospital does not take any responsibility for any injuries that may occur. First aid will be given if required.
- You will need to sign a liability waiver for your child to attend.
- We will need contact numbers for a parent or guardian in case of an emergency.
